Commitment to Community

Missoula Electric Cooperative’s Trustees, Management Staff and Employees believe that being a good corporate citizen is an obligation to our Members. Each year representatives from MEC assists schools through our participation in the following two programs:

IEP

The IEP (Improvements for Education) is funded from MEC unclaimed capital credits that are used for education purposes, instead of being escheated to the State of Montana. The program is used for schools in the Missoula Electric Cooperative service territory.

EEE

The EEE (Electronic Education Equipment) program is a joint venture between Missoula Electric Cooperative, Energy Partners, and Blackfoot Telephone Cooperative to provide schools with electronic education equipment. This program benefits schools that are attended by Members within their combined service territories.

MEC’s talented professional Lineman and engineering department employees also provide electric safety demonstrations for many entities including schools, volunteer fire departments and other organizations.

We participate in school career day activities to demonstrate the opportunities that might be available to students who are interested in the cooperative electric distribution business.

We provide sponsorships for school yearbooks, athletic events and other community projects within our allocated budget each year.

Our General Manager, Tony Sinclair serves as a Board member of MAEDC (Missoula Area Economic Development Corporation) which is an organization that promotes economic and community development to provide a better quality of life for our Members and their children.
