Applying for service is easy! Just follow these six simple steps.
- Fill out the "Membership Application" form (the application must have a signature) and, if you are applying for new construction or a service improvement, you must also fill out the "New Service Application". Then:
- FAX it to us at (406) 541-6318 or
- mail it to MEC, 1700 W. Broadway, Missoula MT 59808.
- Provide us with the 8 digit meter number located on the face of the meter. If there is no service available, you will need to make an appointment with an engineer to stake in the service.
- For new services, complete the engineering data sheet and return it to MEC with a $75.00 engineering fee. In addition the Consumer Check List must be completed prior to construction and refer to the Service Handbook for new service questions.
- A Minimum Security Deposit of $150.00 or GREATER is required. This requirement may be waived upon evidence of good credit through MEC's online credit check. This deposit shall be applied to the final billing or can be applied to current billing after twelve consecutive months of on-time, in-full payment history. Deposits will not accrue interest. There will also be a $5.00 processing fee assessed for all connects.
- If you are moving a mobile home or an RV onto an existing service site, a state or county electrical inspection permit will be required. The application for a State Electrical Permit can be obtained from our Missoula office or contacting The Montana Department Of Labor & Industry Electrical Safety Section at 301 S. Park PO BOX 200517 Helena, MT 59620. Missoula County permits can be obtained from our Missoula office or at the Missoula County Building Inspection Division at 6089 Training Drive, Missoula, MT 59808.
- If you move, it is your responsibility to notify the Cooperative that you have moved. The Cooperative needs to know the date your responsibility ended and your forwarding address for Capital Credits. You are responsible for the bill until you notify the Cooperative.
